Psychological Safety
- ASTEC takes steps to ensure all learners' psychological safety.
Physical Safety and Emergencies
- In the case of a fire alarm activation, HSIB is evacuated on a floor-by-floor basis, meaning:
- In a typical scenario, fire alarms will chime on the fire floor and the floors immediately above and below it.
- Occupants should evacuate to the next lowest floor level (2 floors). If this level is in alarm, continue to the ground floor and exit the building.
- More information on the HSIB fire alarm policy can be found here.
- If other emergencies occur, ASTEC follows the policies detailed on the UAHS Planning & Facilities Emergency Procedures site. Additional information for individuals with disabilities can be found here.
- Other simulation-specific safety measures will be discussed during the prebriefing process.
Video Recording and Photography
- Video Recording and photography occurs regularly at ASTEC and video recording, specifically, is frequently used to aid the simulation debriefing process. Leaners should familiarize themselves with ASTEC's video recording and photography policies.
Additional Resources
- ASTEC expects learners, instructors, other visitors, and staff to follow the SSH Simulationist Code of Ethics, UArizona Code of Academic Conduct, Student Code of Conduct, and/or University Staff Standards of Conduct.
- If you encounter someone violating these codes of conduct, please notify and ASETC staff member.
