Healthcare Certification Courses Offered at ASTEC
ASTEC offers a number of certification courses throughout the year. In most cases, learners will be directed by an instructor to register for a specific course. Occasionally, ASTEC offers open registration to those who need to meet certain certification requirements. If that happens, this page, as well as the ASTEC homepage, will be updated to reflect up-to-date registration information.
The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) has certified ASTEC as a test center for both the Fundamental of Endoscopic Surgery (FES) and the Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS). ASTEC provides a variety of training equipment for these certifications. This equipment is available to learners all year and students may sign up to use it during ASTEC's regular business hours by contacting our FES/FLS scheduling liaison, Rochelle Marshall, at rochellemarshall@arizona.edu. Students must schedule an appointment for FES/FLS training ahead of time and should not visit the lab for FES/FLS training without a confirmed appointment.
To schedule your FES or FLS test, please visit the appropriate registration site. ASTEC does not schedule tests directly and requests to do so will be redirected to the FES or FLS test registration website.
- FLS tests are the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of each month
- FES tests are the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of each month
